Group Stagger

Select two or more Spline Juice actors and the settings panel shows a Group tab. It turns a pile of props that all move at once into one choreographed wave, and keeps their splines pointing the right way.

Re-aims every selected spline by yaw only. The planted end nearest the actor stays put and the vertical profile is preserved, so a curve you’ve shaped keeps its shape. Two modes, each with a draggable gizmo in the viewport (one undo step per drag):

ModeWhat it does
Aim at common centroid (fan out)Points every spline’s free tip away from a shared point. Drag the gizmo to move that point.
Align parallelTurns every spline to one shared world heading, so a fleet of actors placed at different rotations all deform in the same world direction. Drag the gizmo to set the heading.

This is ordinary editing of the spline shape; it doesn’t move actor transforms.

Delays each selected actor’s playback so the group plays as a wave instead of all in sync. Pick a mode and a Spread (the total delay across the group, in seconds; the last actor finishes at Spread + Duration):

ModeOrder the wave travels in
By selection orderThe order you selected the actors.
Ripple out from the cluster centerFrom the middle of the group outward.
Sweep along a world axisAcross the group along X, Y, or Z.
Random jitterA random delay per actor, pinned so re-selecting never reshuffles it.

Changes apply instantly to every selected actor. With Live Preview on and Loop off, the wave plays through once and holds, which makes the sweep easy to read; adjusting a control replays it.

The delay is a real per-actor setting (Playback Start Delay), so the wave plays in Play and in packaged games, not just the editor preview. Clear stagger puts the group back in sync.

Staggering a selection also forms a wave group. Every member remembers the group’s name and the stagger recipe (mode, spread, axis), so reselecting the group later brings the controls back exactly as you left them.

  • The Group tab shows the group’s name (rename it in place), a member count, and a Select all members button when only part of the group is selected.
  • While the settings window is open, members glow with an accent rim in the viewport and a floating “GroupName · N” pill marks the cluster. This is an editor visual only; nothing is saved into the level or shows in play.
  • Right-click any member for Select GroupName (N actors) to re-select the whole group in one click. The same menu offers Group and Ungroup.

Selecting actors from two different groups shows a mixed selection notice; the first stagger change deliberately forms a new group from that selection.
